Anthony Edwards already knows how to take over a basketball game. LaMelo Ball might make it even harder to stop him.
Minnesota’s new-look backcourt made an immediate statement in its season opener, combining for 66 points in a 131–106 demolition of Miami. Edwards exploded for 45 points and 10 rebounds, while LaMelo added 21 points and six assists. Not a bad way to introduce a new partnership.
Ant brings explosive scoring, confidence and the kind of personality that makes basketball entertaining. LaMelo brings creativity, court vision and the ability to make defenders pay when they focus too heavily on his teammate.
Even better, Edwards wants LaMelo to be aggressive rather than simply pass the ball. That could make this partnership particularly dangerous.
One game does not make a championship contender. But Minnesota’s new backcourt has already given fans something to get excited about.
The question is no longer whether they can entertain. It’s how much damage they can do together.
